Going to the Zoo!!

I decided that I wanted to do something fun this weekend (since I had 4 days off) so Rocky and I went to the San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park. It was so much fun!!! Lots...and I mean LOTS of walking, but we really had a good time. We saw lots of exotic, wild animals that you wouldn't normally see in a zoo like an Okapi, which is a horse looking thing with a zebra butt!! We also saw a one month old baby elephant, some baby giraffes, a huge lion really close up and a 3 day old baby Cape Buffalo that could barely walk. It was so cool!!!

We also decided to take the Photo Caravan Tour, which was an additional cost from the park admission (a whopping $90 per person) but I have to say it was worth every penny!!! We look the 1-3/4 hour tour which takes you right into 2 major African exhibits right next to the animals. You are 10 feet away from Rinos, Giraffes and other beasts...it's crazy. The highlight of the tour is that you get to feed the giraffes yourself. The guild has a bucket of leaves and you go up one at a time and feed the Giraffes right outside of the truck, which is very freaky and scary all at the same time. It was a wonderful experience.

I am so glad that we decided to go!! My life has been a huge roller coaster right now and I needed something to brighten my spirits and remind me of the little things in life. It was a wonderful day and here are some of the highlights!

There are 2 things I love about this post:

1. You used the word "beast."

2. You both look a little bit unsure/scared around the giraffes.

It looks like it was a lot of fun. Would Archer be too little for that?

Archer is too little to go on the "Photo Caravan-Giraffe Feeding", because you have to be 8yrs old, but I think he would LOVE the Wild Animal Park. Even if you just went on the tram ride and walked around, you would still see all the animals just a little further away. My mom's best friend took here 2 1/2 year old granddaughter and she loved it. Just remember that it is A LOT of walking and some of it is up hill. It is a good family adventure...I would go again!
